The FUN and the FURY: American Studies Association Conference Taps Queer, Indie porn company Pink & White Productions

Shine Louise Houston and Jiz Lee Present on Interdisciplinary Porn

Los Angeles, USA — Pink & White Productions director Shine Louise Houston and performer Jiz Lee will present at the American Studies Association’s 2014 conference, The Fun and the Fury: New Dialectics of Pleasure and Pain in the Post-American Century, November 6-9 at the Westin Bonadventure.

On Friday, November 7th, Jane Ward moderates “Is Porn Still Fun?” with panelists Constance Penley, Keith Harris, and representing artist, Jiz Lee. A porn performer for nearly a decade, Lee has been invited to screen selections of their work, showcasing the often subversive, surprising, and joyful sexual experimentation possible within queer and independent pornography.

Saturday, November 8th’s panel “Sex is… Sex Ain’t: Working at the Critical Edge of Sex, Politics, Art, and Industry” is chaired by Juana María Rodriguez with panelists Marlon M. Bailey, Dian Hanson, April Flores, Hoang Tan Nguyen, and Shine Louise Houston. As Pink and White Production’s founding director, Houston’s extensive experience of queer sexuality and film has earned her honors as a visionary among sex culture curators.

The American Studies Association is the nation’s oldest and largest association devoted to the interdisciplinary study of American culture and history. For more information, visit theasa.net and follow the conference online #2014ASA.
